It all started when …
Can I ask you a question?
When you come across a new website or blog that you like the look of, do you read the ABOUT page? Apparently they are THE most visited page on any website. To tell you the truth, sometimes I do and sometimes I don’t. It really depends on what it is I’m looking at.
Have you read my ABOUT page?
Well, if not, this is me!
When I wrote it I wasn’t really sure how much information people would be interested in knowing about me or how much I was willing to divulge (lol) so I tried to keep it pretty light, friendly but to the point.
Yes, I am a Teacher Aide by day but I haven’t always been. My pre-children career was as a Technician in pathology labs. Much as I would love it to be so, Sister in Style is not yet my full time gig.
I haven’t always had a hobby either, except for shopping, I do LOVE shopping but that is more of an addiction than a hobby!
It all started a few years ago when a friend gave me a gift of several pairs of earrings she had made. I loved them, of course, but I also thought it would be something that I would like to learn to do too. Conveniently enough, at that time there was a rather large bead warehouse very close by. So, within a matter of a few weeks I had tools and the beginnings of a handsome bead stash. The monster had been created!
I am entirely self taught, but then the techniques I use aren’t too difficult or intricate. I like to keep things fairly simple. I like a wide range of styles so you will always find quite a variety in store with most pieces being OOAK.
As time went by and my skill and confidence grew, the owner of my favourite online bead store asked me to design some pieces for her to be published in Australian beading magazines as tutorials.
It was quite an experience. Next time I’ll share some of my published pieces with you. Would you like to see those?
Until next time, stay stylish.
